Yesterday I had such a craving for fish; so I went to Costco and there they had wild caught fresh tuna. Yay! So I decided to make a ahi tuna salad. It is so quick and easy and tastes amazing! Wild caught tuna can be pricey, but all the other ingredients are cheap so all in all this is not an expensive dinner or lunch. If you are trying to eat healthy this is the perfect meal for you!

Raw Ahi Tuna

Ingredients
Ahi Tuna, 2 Filets (sashimi grade)
1/2 Yellow Onion, chopped
2 Cloves of fresh Garlic
1/2 Cup Organic Soy Sauce or Tamari (Gluten Free & Organic Option)
Sriracha, to taste
1 tbs Sesame oil
1 tbs Rice Vinegar
2 tbs Fresh Ginger, chopped
2 Scallions, chopped
Black Sesame Seeds, to garnish
2 Small Carrots, chopped julienne style 1 Avocado, thin slices for garnish

Ahi Tuna in the Making

Directions
1. Rinse your tuna and pat them dry. Cut the tuna into cubes and remove all fatty and stingy parts.
2.Place your fish in a bowl with the chopped onion and garlic.
3. Get a small bowl and add sesame oil, Tamari, sriracha, rice vinegar, ginger and scallions. Mix it together. Taste it and if you are happy with it pour it over the fish. You can serve it immidiatly or put in fridge and let it marinate for a few hours.
4. When you are ready to serve, lay the carrots on the bottom, add the tuna and place the avocado on top. Lastly, garnish with sesame seeds and voila!

Paint a light background in your China Hutch!

Last week I shared with you the makeover of my China Hutch. But I did not stop there. I wanted to give my newly painted "old" china hutch a extra little pop by painting the background of the cabinet in a different color. Another great option is also to use a wallpaper in the background! I went for the easiest option and painted the background white. Of course you can use any kind of color, and the best is to have a little gloss in the paint to make it the most durable.

One of the reasons why I went with the white background is because all the wine & champagne glasses looks really gorgeous with a white background in contrast to the dark black. This is a super easy fix for a china hutch that actually needs some work, you only need to paint the inside of the hutch = half the work! Check out the 1st part of the process here, and let me know what you think about the 2nd part, painting the background light! xo.Abella

Lately I have been trying to cook more healthy, like staying away from dairy, sugar and wheat. So tonight I made a pasta dinner that tasted excellent and is so very healthy. I always figured that the gluten free and dairy free food was expensive and not very flavor full, but with this recipe it was neither. Okay, since all ingredients were organic it is a little more pricy than non-organic food. But the few extra dollars spent was well worth it to me, when you know that you are eating healthy and the food used is good for your body. This pasta dish is also made without any oils or butter and is low-sodium. In other words very healthy for you, and might I say delicious! Here is the recipe:

INGREDIENTS

1 Onion
2 Garlic boats
32 oz diced tomatoes
1/2 Lbs Organic Turkey Meat
1 Tbsp paprika
1 Tbsp Garlic powder
1 Tbsp Onion Powder
1 Tbsp Pepper
1/4 Tbsp Salt
1 Tsp Chilli Powder
1/2 Tbsp Orgeano
1/2 Tbsp Basil
Squeeze of half a lemon
16 oz Brown Rice Pasta
1 Cup Water

The easiest table you will ever make!

This is will be the easiest thing you have ever made, and its a table! So you might think, how is it possible to make a table without any screws, glue or nails; easy! Make a pallet table for your outside patio. It will be the easiest DIY project you have ever made and let me tell you I got so many compliments, you will too!

So the hardest part for me was to find the pallets that they look decent and were in good condition. Eventually I ended up getting a few pallets from my parents-in-laws business, they were going to throw them away, but I figured I could use them for something, and I did. I made a outdoor table just by staking the pallets on top of each other. You don't need screws, nails or glue to make this table. It is so easy to make this table and it turned out so rustic looking and pretty! This was the easiest DIY project I have ever made, so if you are looking for a easy D.I.Y. project to do; MAKE this table! So for the top I found a huge basket to keep all my decor and candles. I love doing little projects and when its this easy and cheap I call it a success! Let me know what you think of my new patio table! xo Abella

HOW TO PACK YOU PICNIC BASKET:

What would be better than a little outing on an weekday evening or on the weekend like a picnic? To be honest it is not something I do too often, but just the thought of it when its spring, the weather is starting to heat up and longer evenings makes me want to plan one right away. Not to mention it is the perfect outing for a low budget. Perfect! This will be fun, I know it:)
Well, if you are warming up to the thought but think it is a lot of work, don’t worry. Here is a little help to make you not forget what makes picnic a picnic.
What not to forget:
You will probably need a place to sit, so either bring your favorite blanket or even a couple chairs might not be a bad idea. Personally I prefer sitting on the ground so I am going bring a couple of blankets, one for the ground and one for when it starts getting chilly to keep warm. If you are in need of a blanket ikea has a lot of them for pretty cheap.
What do you want to eat when you are on a picnic, this is totally up to preference of course, there is so much to choose from but the classic is cheese, bread and wine. It is the classic for a reason. The options are endless, pack your favorite sandwich and chips for your daytime picnic or maybe you just want to snack so salsa or hummus are great options. And don’t forget your favorite beverage!
What to pack in? Well you can even do a backpack or something you have handy. I might go to World Market and buy this picnic basket because it is gorgeous and would serve well carrying my food.

No matter where or when you want to have a little picnic if you are in good company it will be a success, and the best thing is that everyone can bring their own basket full of goodies, so in other words great company and great food is the recipe to a great time. So remember, a place to sit, your favorite food and remember to invite your friends!
Let me know if you are planning an event and please email me a photo of your outing. Have fun! Xo Abella

I have seen a lot of people do IKEA hacks on Pinterest, so I decided to try it myself. It is such a great idea, because IKEA has some decent priced furniture and home decor, but maybe not exactly your style. If you buy a piece of furniture cheap, or already have something in your home that you are tired of why don't hack it and get a new look? The hard part may even be finding the right product at IKEA that you want to hack, because there is so many!!
When my husband and I bought our house in 2012 we redid the kitchen, and since we had so many windows in our kitchen we did not really have room for the cabinets above the counter. Then we thought why not install some shelves, so that's were my IKEA hack comes in. I found some shelves at IKEA with brackets for cheap, so I figured these shelves were a great starting point for me to redo them, because I liked the style but the color of the wood was just plain, so why not change the color! This is not a very hard hack, its basically just painting and if you need to you can cut the length of the shelf. IKEA already had two widths for the shelf so you can basically fit them anywhere.
Below you can see the first few steps

The next step might seem odd, and this was the first time for me, but I used coffee grounds to get that old reclaimed look. I could have stopped after the gray paint, but I had a image in my mind and I had heard that your left over coffee grounds will create the perfect brownish color so with a the gray undertone it will look like reclaimed wood! And it did:)
Look at the difference between just the paint and and applying the coffee-grounds. It is pretty amazing that it makes such a strong color. I figure using what comes from the earth could not hurt to put in your house. And if you are thinking, why don't skip the painting-part of this diy project, you can! I actually did that with the shelves in my bathroom and they turned out brown. Gorgeous, but the look is a little different from the reclaimed look I went for here. I am working on that post so it will definitely be up on my blog soon so check back, and I will link it to this post.
Let me know how YOUR shelves turn out if you try this hack, or if you have another project in mind send us a picture, I would love to see it. xo. abella
