Turkey Bolognese with Rice Pasta

    Lately I have been trying to cook more healthy, like staying away from dairy, sugar and wheat. So tonight I made a pasta dinner that tasted excellent and is so very healthy. I always figured that the gluten free and dairy free food was expensive and not very flavor full, but with this recipe it was neither. Okay, since all ingredients were organic it is a little more pricy than non-organic food. But the few extra dollars spent was well worth it to me, when you know that you are eating healthy and the food used is good for your body. This pasta dish is also made without any oils or butter and is low-sodium. In other words very healthy for you, and might I say delicious! Here is the recipe:

     

    INGREDIENTS

    1 Onion
    2 Garlic boats
    32 oz diced tomatoes
    1/2 Lbs Organic Turkey Meat
    1 Tbsp paprika
    1 Tbsp Garlic powder
    1 Tbsp Onion Powder
    1 Tbsp Pepper
    1/4 Tbsp Salt
    1 Tsp Chilli Powder
    1/2 Tbsp Orgeano
    1/2 Tbsp Basil
    Squeeze of half a lemon
    16 oz Brown Rice Pasta
    1 Cup Water

     

    DIRECTIONS

    1. Bring water to a boil in a pot
    2. Dice the onion and garlic in fine pieces. Since you can not use any oils or butter warm a teflon-pan on low heat and add the onions and garlic. simmer it on low heat and the onion lets out juices so it does not stick.
    3. Add the ground turkey when the onion starts sweating.
    4. Add all the spices and then the can of tomatoes and add 1 cup of water.
    5. Let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes, and taste it so you will know if it needs a little more spice.
    6. Add the pasta to the boiling water, cook it until its al dente.
    7. Serve this delicious food in your favorite pasta bowl! Add a little fresh basil on top and
