Pallet Love! Who would have thought that you can do so many different things with them? You can make tables, sofas, chairs, shelves and use them as a headboard! I had seen a similar idea on Pinterest, so when I had two pallets left over I knew what I wanted to do with them. If you can't tell I am a huge fan of overly rustic looking things and reclaimed wood, I love mixing the modern look with the classic, but overall there is nothing I love more than being able to make something myself, or put my look on something. There is a reason why I am a regular at all the thrift stores because I am always looking for a nice piece of furniture or decor item that I can fix and make it exactly how I want it. And guess what you can't beat the price! Of course it does take time, so I call it my hobby. Other people enjoy sport or drawing or relaxing in the sun, while I am always in the look-out for my next project. It is just that little effort that makes your home so YOU when you are able to put your own touch on it. Either way, this article is a do-it-yourself article and so easy!

Again you need to find the pallets which in making this headboard will be the hardest, and lets admit if you really put your mind to it you can easily find some free pallets somewhere, either a store or a grocery store, basically anywhere they have shipments. My friend went looking for them one night and they were everywhere she said when you started looking for them. So if you can find some in pretty good shape, it doesn't matter if they are a little rough looking and not in perfect condition that will make them look even better. So ones you have the pallets, clean them good outside, I recommend hosing them down so all the dirt and dust is gone. Let them air dry for a day or two, until they are completely dry and ready to be taken inside. If your pallets are a nice color you are all good to go for the next step. But if you feel like a different color, here's what I did: I laid them outside on a blanket, I bought some spray cans at the local hardware store, I went with white, and I sprayed one coat. To be able to cover the pallet I would have to spray it a few times, but I liked the look of just one coat so I just did one. And voila, the painting is done. Get some help from your friend and carry the pallets to the bedroom that you are going to use the pallets in, place them behind the bed and this DIY project is done! This is why I LOVE pallets!! xo Abella

Lately I have been trying to cook more healthy, like staying away from dairy, sugar and wheat. So tonight I made a pasta dinner that tasted excellent and is so very healthy. I always figured that the gluten free and dairy free food was expensive and not very flavor full, but with this recipe it was neither. Okay, since all ingredients were organic it is a little more pricy than non-organic food. But the few extra dollars spent was well worth it to me, when you know that you are eating healthy and the food used is good for your body. This pasta dish is also made without any oils or butter and is low-sodium. In other words very healthy for you, and might I say delicious! Here is the recipe:

INGREDIENTS

1 Onion
2 Garlic boats
32 oz diced tomatoes
1/2 Lbs Organic Turkey Meat
1 Tbsp paprika
1 Tbsp Garlic powder
1 Tbsp Onion Powder
1 Tbsp Pepper
1/4 Tbsp Salt
1 Tsp Chilli Powder
1/2 Tbsp Orgeano
1/2 Tbsp Basil
Squeeze of half a lemon
16 oz Brown Rice Pasta
1 Cup Water

This is will be the easiest thing you have ever made, and its a table! So you might think, how is it possible to make a table without any screws, glue or nails; easy! Make a pallet table for your outside patio. It will be the easiest DIY project you have ever made and let me tell you I got so many compliments, you will too!

So the hardest part for me was to find the pallets that they look decent and were in good condition. Eventually I ended up getting a few pallets from my parents-in-laws business, they were going to throw them away, but I figured I could use them for something, and I did. I made a outdoor table just by staking the pallets on top of each other. You don't need screws, nails or glue to make this table. It is so easy to make this table and it turned out so rustic looking and pretty! This was the easiest DIY project I have ever made, so if you are looking for a easy D.I.Y. project to do; MAKE this table! So for the top I found a huge basket to keep all my decor and candles. I love doing little projects and when its this easy and cheap I call it a success! Let me know what you think of my new patio table! xo Abella

GIN & TONIC

This is my husband and mine all-time favorite drink, it’s a classic drink that will never go out of style. It is a classic for a reason. Even though this drink is perfect just “classic”, but there are a lot of variations with this drink too. First there is a lot of different gin's like Bombay, Tanqueray, Beefeater or Hendricks, the list goes on and on and there are several different options to add a special flavor to your G&T. Of course a squeeze of lemon is always good. But a few of my other favorites is fresh squeezed orange, blood orange or fresh pomegranate juice. The options are endless, any fresh fruit or berries you add to this classic will make it like a new drink. Below is the recipe for the classic gin. Feel free to add whatever juicy fruit to this drink! If you are thinking out of the box with the fruit, which I love, let me know and I'll try it and post that as well on my blog.

HOW TO PACK YOU PICNIC BASKET:

What would be better than a little outing on an weekday evening or on the weekend like a picnic? To be honest it is not something I do too often, but just the thought of it when its spring, the weather is starting to heat up and longer evenings makes me want to plan one right away. Not to mention it is the perfect outing for a low budget. Perfect! This will be fun, I know it:)
Well, if you are warming up to the thought but think it is a lot of work, don’t worry. Here is a little help to make you not forget what makes picnic a picnic.
What not to forget:
You will probably need a place to sit, so either bring your favorite blanket or even a couple chairs might not be a bad idea. Personally I prefer sitting on the ground so I am going bring a couple of blankets, one for the ground and one for when it starts getting chilly to keep warm. If you are in need of a blanket ikea has a lot of them for pretty cheap.
What do you want to eat when you are on a picnic, this is totally up to preference of course, there is so much to choose from but the classic is cheese, bread and wine. It is the classic for a reason. The options are endless, pack your favorite sandwich and chips for your daytime picnic or maybe you just want to snack so salsa or hummus are great options. And don’t forget your favorite beverage!
What to pack in? Well you can even do a backpack or something you have handy. I might go to World Market and buy this picnic basket because it is gorgeous and would serve well carrying my food.

No matter where or when you want to have a little picnic if you are in good company it will be a success, and the best thing is that everyone can bring their own basket full of goodies, so in other words great company and great food is the recipe to a great time. So remember, a place to sit, your favorite food and remember to invite your friends!
Let me know if you are planning an event and please email me a photo of your outing. Have fun! Xo Abella
